Effect of mechanical strain on subcellular localization of caveolin-1 in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). A Representative western blots showing caveolin-1 (Cav-1) protein levels in caveolar (fraction 1) and non-caveolar (fraction 7) membrane fractions isolated from non-stretched VSMCs and VSMCs exposed to 10% cyclic stretch for 72 h. B Densitometry analysis of Cav-1 revealed that cyclic stretch induced a significant translocation of Cav-1 from the caveolar fraction to the non-caveolar fraction compared to non-stretched control cells n = 3 (*P < 0.05, ***P < 0.001).
